Kabuto is used in case of Bishop exchange. It’s relatively quick to build and resistant to frontal attacks. However, it doesn’t provide strong lateral defense. The compactness is somewhat reduced, and the 9th file doesn’t appear to be well-protected from coordinated lateral drops (S+49) with other pieces.
