Sota Fujii

A young champion born on July 19, 2002, in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, today he reigns almost unchallenged in the shogi scene.

He enrolled in a local shogi school at the age of 7 and then entered the professional shogi school in 2012. He became a professional in 2016, the youngest ever.

Holder of numerous records, for both the number of victories and his young age, he manages to win and simultaneously hold all 8 Japanese shogi titles.

It seems that meticulous preparation is accompanied by the use of specific game software.

It appears he does not have a preferred opening but statistically uses the aigakari opening more frequently. Extremely skilled in the endgame, he always maintains a high level of concentration.
