Ichiyo Shimizu

She was born on January 9, 1969, in Higashimurayama, Tokyo.

She attained the rank of 6 dan in 2000 and was promoted to 7 dan, the highest level in the women’s ranking, in 2020.

She was the first woman elected to the Board of Directors of the Japan Shogi Association (Nihon Shogi Renmei) and became its President in June 2025, succeeding Yoshiharu Habu.

A record of 43 titles attests to her outstanding professional career.
